The busy-ness of everyday life can leave our Nervous Systems fried and frazzled. Pile on inconsistent diets, repetitive strain, overstimulation from noise and light, sleep deprivation, and lack of (or sometimes too much) exercise, and our bodies become burned out and depleted. Restorative Yoga is an opportunity to let your body sigh. It calms your Nervous System. It allows peace and quiet in our busy world. Our Yoga Instructors use bolsters, eye pillows, sandbags, blankets and blocks to unweight your body and allow areas that are strained and compressed to let go and feel relief.

Private restorative yoga classes actually go back to the roots of yoga. Working one on one with an instructor allows you to get individualized attention and make sure we are focusing on the right goals.

Chelsea was first introduced to, and fell in love with, physiotherapy as a competitive athlete sustaining and recovering from various sports related injuries. Her passion for the profession has been further ignited during her own diagnosis and journey through a chronic pain condition, in which she learned first hand how empowering it can be to have the right team of practitioners helping you achieve your goals.

After completing her Masters of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto in 2016, Chelsea has taken courses on manual therapy, exercise therapy, chronic pain, and Clinical Pilates. Chelsea’s practice aims to help all individuals through all stages of their rehabilitation journey. Using pilates equipment and principles as a complement to physiotherapy sessions, Chelsea enjoys showing individuals they can achieve new ranges of motion, improve muscle activation and strength, improve core control, and learn about their own body’s alignment so they can get back to what they love to do in their lives.

Along with her passion for helping those with chronic pain and complex injuries, Chelsea also has a special interest in working with athletes as they work through, or work to prevent, athletic injuries. Before her physiotherapy degree, Chelsea attended Simon Fraser University where she was captain of the Women’s Varsity Volleyball team. It’s a true privilege to partner with people through their healing journey and to see them achieve their highest possible level of function. I believe that education in this process is key. By helping people understand their injury and providing tools to remedy symptoms we can see real results. I use a combination of manual therapy, acupuncture, Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), soft tissue work, and progressive exercise to correct muscle imbalance and restore pain free movement. With over 15 years of experience as a physiotherapist in Vancouver, I focus on treatment that will be effective and tailored specifically to your needs and goals. I keep sessions fun and seek to encourage and motivate my clients to help them see their full physical potential. Through my own injuries in soccer, swimming and snowboarding I have developed a special interest in foot and knee injuries, as well as treating chronic pain. I believe in the importance of lifelong learning and I am regularly furthering my education by taking advanced physiotherapy courses. In my free time I enjoy running, biking and chasing after my son.

Helen is a graduate of the University of Alberta, holding both a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She has worked as a physiotherapist in private practice clinics in the Edmonton area, and prior to moving to Vancouver, spent 18 months working in a busy outpatient physiotherapy department in a private hospital in Aberdeen, Scotland. Helen has a ‘patients come first’ philosophy. She believes that optimal function relies not only on overcoming the physical limitation of a particular injury, but also in considering all aspects of a person’s life. She attempts to match treatments with her clients’ personal schedules, their prior experience with exercise, and their goals for future activity. Assessments and Treatments are based on the whole-body approach of The Discover Physio Series Integrated Approach for Facilitating Change. Treatments incorporate specific exercise prescription with manual therapy (in particular specific fascial techniques), acupuncture/IMS and soft tissue release. Core stability exercises and postural correction are key to any treatment program prescribed; as such, pilates, yoga and foam roller techniques are integrated where appropriate.

Anthony has had the opportunity to travel the world learning effective healing techniques. After completing a Bachelor of Science degree at Trent University he travelled to Sydney Australia where he received his teaching degree in Sydney, Australia. He then went on to teach anatomy as a Science Specialist in California. This knowledge of anatomy has served as an excellent foundation for his training as a Yoga Instructor in India, and a Reiki Master in Japan. Having lived in crowded cities like Tokyo Japan, Sydney Australia, and San Jose California, he has encountered people feeling the physical effects of a hectic lifestyle. This led Anthony to study massage therapy at Sutherland Chan Massage School in Toronto to learn how he could help. His dedication to updating skills has lead him to take courses in Deep Tissue Therapy, Sports Massage, and face and scalp massage for TMJ (jaw pain), headaches and neck pain. In his latest course about Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Anthony learned how to use heated tools that effectively sink deep into muscles to reach the source of pain. The warmth from the tools eases the muscles into letting go so that the treatment is less painful and you leave feeling better and ready to get back to an active lifestyle. Anthony’s treatments address the muscles, joints and fascia to resolve the underlying source of pain and dysfunction. His detailed approach has enabled him to effectively treat clients with scoliosis, sciatica, foot and knee pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. With the comfort of adjustable pregnancy bolsters that gently cradle the belly, Anthony also offers prenatal massage to reduce back, and neck pain as well as swelling in the hands and feet. Anthony has a unique talent for identifying sources of pain in the body. He will then provide a treatment plan to suit your specific needs, leaving you in the ultimate state of relaxation.
